Based on observation and interviews, the hospital failed to uphold patients' right to receive care in a safe setting and ensure expired supplies were not available for use by staff.
Finding Include: Record review of the facility policy Procedural Inventory Waste and Expiration Management, dated 10/31/2022, stated: collected expired supplies and move them to a sequestered area....so these supplies are not used in procedures.
Observation of the dental box in the medical room on 4/13/2023 at 1050 with the staff (ID#51) revealed:
Six Ultra Safety Plus XL-(needle stick injury prevention devices) that expired 04/2022.
Five Dental rolls, expired 11/30/2022
One EMT Tooth Saver, expired 09/2020.
Interview with staff (ID#51) verified the finding.
