Based on observation and staff interview the facility fails to assure that electrical wiring and equipment is installed and maintained in accordance with NFPA 70, National Electrical Code. This deficient practice could cause the risk of an electrial fire, affecting 8 of 8 smoke zones. This facility is licensed for 37 beds with a census of 33 at the time of the survey.
FINDINGS INCLUDE:
During the tour on 8/3/10 from 8:15 am to 4:00 pm, the following was observed in the electrical room, which is located in a separate building adjacent to the facility:
1) An electrical panel was missing a breaker/blank.
2) The electrical panel and transfer switches were obstructed with boxes of electrical wiring and outlets.
Staff "M" was present and aware of the findings.
