Based on staff interview, personnel file review, and policy and procedure review this facility failed to ensure criminal record background checks on one (1) of six (6) personnel files reviewed; Registered Nurse (RN) #3.
Findings Include:
During an interview with the Director of Education, Safety, and Accreditation Services on 03/20/2024 at 2: 20 p.m., it was confirmed RN #3 had no documented evidence of a criminal background check record.
Review of personnel file on 03/20/2024 at 2:20 p.m. for RN #3 revealed no documented evidence of criminal background check.
Review of the facility policy, "Criminal History Verification Policy" no policy #, dated 7/2023 reviewed 9/2024, revealed "Policy ...Every employee who is employed on or after July 01, 2033 ...Procedure. ...B. Documentation of submission of the fingerprints to Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) shall be on file and maintained by the Human Resources Department prior to applicant/employee's first date of employment ...".
During the exit conference on 03/21/2024 at 11:35 a.m. with Risk Manager and Director of Education, Safety, and Accreditation Services, survey findings were discussed, and no further documentation was submitted for review.
