Based on observations and interview, the critical access hospital failed to ensure that all surgical services emergency supplies were not expired.
Finding:
On 1/14/2020 at 3:00 PM, a 3.5 mm endotracheal tube was observed have a label that indicated it expired 12/2019.
A review of the Surgical Services-Operating Room/PACU (post anesthesia care unit) schedule indicated surgeries were conducted on 1/2/2020, 1/3/2020, 1/6/2020, 1/7/2020, 1/8/2020, 1/9/2020, 1/10/2020, 1/13/202, and 1/14/2020.
On 1/14/2020 at 3:00 PM, the Surgical Registered Nurse confirmed the endotracheal tube was expired.
