The facility back-up emergency electrical generator(s) can not be shut down from a remote location as required by,NFPA 110, 1999 edition, section 3.5.6 This deficient practice could affect all occupants including 8 of 28 patients staff, and visitors.
Findings include:
During the tour of the facility on 3-29-10 at approximately 10:00AM, it was observed and noted during an interview with the maintenance director (JV) that the emergency generator(s) (two) do not have an emergency shut down devices located remote from the generators. The shut downs switches are currently in the maintenance shop, and the monitoring is done at the nurses station.
This deficient practice was confirmed by the maintenance supervisor (JV)at the time of exit.
