Based on observational tour and interview, it was determined, for 1 of 2 clothes washers and 1 of 2 clothes dryers on the 4th floor Intensive Care Treatment Unit, the Hospital failed to ensure clothes washers and dryers were operational, potentially affecting 19 patients on census on 11/14/16.
Findings include:
1. On 11/14/16 between 10:00 AM and 12:20 PM, an observational tour was conducted on the 4th floor Intensive Care Treatment Unit. There were 2 clothes washers and 2 clothes dryers. One of each was not functional.
2. On 11/14/16 at 12:15 PM, an interview was conducted with a Housekeeper (E #3). E #3 stated the washer and dryer had been broken for approximately 1 month.
3. On 11/15/16 at 3:15 PM, an interview was conducted with the Facility Manager (E #12). E # 12 stated the washer and dryer were repaired on 11/14/16 before 5:00 PM. However, E #12 did not have evidence that a work order for repair of the broken washer and dryer had been submitted before the Surveyor's discovery on 11/14/16.
