Based on interview with the Director of Quality and review of Med- Pro Distributors, LLC invoices on August 11, 2014, it was determined that the hospital failed to be in compliance with State of Maine professional standards related to the health and safety of patients as outlined in Maine Pharmacy laws under "Title 32, Chapter 117, Section 13758.

The findings include:

1. Maine Pharmacy laws related to the health and safety of patients under "Title 32, Chapter 117, Section 13758, Licensure"; states "2. Licensure, manufacturers and wholesalers. All manufacturers and wholesalers whose products are distributed in the State of Maine must be licensed by the board."

2. Invoices obtained from the hospital Pharmacy Department on August 11, 2014 indicated that the hospital received drugs from Med Pro Distributors on July 25, 2013 for $5,721.36 and on November 18, 2013 for $20,135.41.

3. Review of Med Pro Distributors, Maine Board of Pharmacy license, indicated that their license became active on July 23, 2014 and will expire on December 31, 2014. The hospital purchased drugs July 2013 and November 2013 when Med Pro Distributors did not have an active license in the State of Maine.

4. This was verified with an interview with the Director of Quality on August 11, 2014.
