RN SUPERVISION OF NURSING CARE

Based on record review and interview, the registered nurse failed to supervise and evaluate the nursing care for 1 of 10 patients (Patient #1), in that, the physician was not informed of Patient #1's two episodes of incontinence of bowel during the 7/14/14 emergency room visit.

Findings Included

The 7/14/14 "Nurse's Notes" for Patient #1 reflected incontinence of bowel at 11:22 AM and 11:53 AM.

The 7/14/14 "Physician Documentation" did not indicate the bowel movements.

During an interview on 10/07/14 at 12:10 PM in the conference room, Personnel #5 was asked if she reported the incontinence of bowel episodes to the physician. Personnel #5 stated she did not remember.

During an interview on 10/07/14 at 12:30 PM in the conference room, Physician #1 was asked if he was aware of the episodes of incontinence of bowel during the patient's stay. Physician #1 said he was not.
