K908 Gas and Vacuum Piped Systems - Inspection and Testing Operations

Based on visual observation the facility failed to correct deficiencies from the inspection of the gas and vacuum piped system that was inspected and tested in accordance with the requirements of NFPA 99. Activation of the system will provide needed oxygen to patients, which results in protection of life. This deficiency has the potential to affect 30 of 30 patients.



Findings:



During the Record review and interview of custodian during exit interview , between the hours of 8:30am to 1:30pm on 7/28/2021 revealed that a contractor had completed an inspection and testing of the MedGas system on 9/18/2021 finding numerous deficiencies that had not been corrected.



Interview with maintenance supervisor revealed the facility was aware that the annual inspections had discovered deficiencies with the gas and vacuum piped system. The main cutoff cannot be found at this time and other parts of the system has failed testing.
