Based on observation, on the day of the survey, 5/5/2010, it was determined that the facility failed to ensure that a hazardous area was in accordance with NFPA 101 sections 8.4.1 and/or 19.3.5.4.

Findings include:

1. On the day of the survey, 5/5/2010, in the presence of Staff #34, #35 and #37 at 1:15 PM, it was confirmed that a basement level storage room (approximately 12' x 15' - identified as Pharmacy Storage) had been constructed in the caged enclosure area next to Stair #9. Given the low ceiling height, it was not clear that the single sprinkler provided adequate protection for the space. Nor was it able to be determined if the partition construction extended to the underside of the deck to provide an alternate means of protection for this hazardous area, as required by NFPA 101 sections 8.4.1 and/or 19.3.5.4.
