Based on interview, review of patient/family complaint forms from April 2011, and review of 1 of 3 clinical records there was a failure to protect the patient's right to an emotionally safe treatment setting that promotes dignity and respect
Findings:
Citing patient #1, a 17 year old female admitted to the facility on 7/1/2011 for treatment of bipolar disorder, eating disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. Review of patient/family complaint forms for April 2011 reflected a complaint from the patient's father on 4/19/2011 complaining his daughter was forced to sit on the floor to eat. Personnel #24, Unit 3 RN Director noted she did direct the patient to eat on the floor in the doorway to her room. This was verified by personnel #21, Director Clinical Services at 11:20 am on 7/28/2011. Per Director Clinical Services, the RN Director of Unit 3 was terminated.
