Based on observation and staff interview, the facility fails to assure that emergency lighting of at least 1 1/2 hour duration is provided. The deficient practice does not provide sufficient illumination of the path of egress in the event of a power failure, affecting 1 of 8 smoke zones. The facility has a capacity of 43 in LTC and 20 in the Hospital, with a census of 43 and 8, respectively.

FINDINGS INCLUDE:

During the tour conducted on 07/07/2010, at 11:30 a.m., it is observed that emergency lighting units located in egress pathways at Front Office and Front Office Hallway failed to function when tested.

Staff A was present and aware of the findings. Staff A stated he would replace the batteries in the emergency lighting units.
