Bringing transparency to federal inspections
Tag No.: C2402
Based on observations of 4 of 4 areas within the emergency department (reception, triage, trauma rooms, and exam rooms), and tours with staff (A, B, C), the hospital failed to have appropriate signage informing patients of their rights. This has the potential to affect all current and potential patients seeking emergency services.
Findings include:
During tour of the ED on 9/23/13, which included observations of the reception desk, a triage area, two trauma rooms, and 8 examination rooms, it was noted there was no EMTALA signage. Hospital President "A", Chief Nurse Executive "B", and Emergency Services Manager "C" were informed of the requirements.
