EMERGENCY ROOM LOG

Based on document review and interview, the facility failed to keep a log of each individual presenting to the emergency department for medical care on 1 (P21) of 21 patients reviewed.
Findings Include:
1. Review of F1 policy for: "Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA)," PolicyStat ID: 6914660, last approved 10/2019, indicates that "the registration process should not unduly discourage individuals from remaining for further evaluation and care," and that patients will be placed on a log, as "the Emergency Department will maintain a log to track the care provided to individuals who present seeking care for a medical condition."
2. Review of F1 (ED) log did not indicate P21 was recorded seeking medical treatment on 7/13/2020.
3. On 8/6/2020 at 1300 hours, S4, Accreditation and Regulatory Manager, confirmed that P21 was not recorded on the (ED) log on 7/13/2020.
