Based on observation and interview, the facility failed to post a sign specifying the rights of individuals with respect to examination and treatment for emergency medical conditions and women in labor. The findings include:
During the tour of the Emergency Department (ED) on 1/29/10 at 0943 with the Risk Manager and the ED Manager, it was confirmed that there was an absence signs in either the ambulance entrance to the ED or the waiting room area that specified the rights of individuals with emergency medical conditions and women in labor who come to the dedicated ED for health care services. Additionally, there were no signs to indicate whether the hospital participates in the Medicaid program.
The Risk Manager stated the signage was posted in the previous ED, but not moved to the new ED which has been open for approximately one year.
