Based on observation and interview, the facility failed to maintain the emergency egress lighting system in accordance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 101, Life Safety Code, 2012 edition, 7.9.2.1 and 19.2.9.1, by not ensuring emergency illumination be provided for a minimum of 1 1/2 hours in the event of failure of normal lighting. This deficient practice affects all occupants of the building. The facility has a capacity of 25 and a census of 12.
Findings include:
Observations and interview on 06/24/21 at 10:12 a.m. revealed the generator encased in a small building outside the hospital failed to have battery back-up emergency lighting to provide illumination in the event of failure of normal lighting. Facilities Director and Maintenance Staff A verified this observation.
