Based on interview and record review, the facility failed to maintain the Piped in Gas and Vacuum System in accordance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards. The deficiency had the potential to affect staff, patients, and other occupants of the building.
The findings include:
During the Life Safety Code survey on 03/21/18 at 10:30 AM, a Medical Gas report from June 2017 revealed thirteen (13) recommendations for repair. Proper documentation of repairs must be available for this type of system. An interview with the Vice President on 03/21/18 at 10:30 AM revealed he thought the items had been repaired; however, he did not have documentation to show that repairs had been made.
The findings were revealed to the Administrator upon exit.
