Based on record review and interview, the hospital's registered nurse did not administered drugs in accordance with the orders of the practitioner responsible for the patient's care on 2 of 2 patients (Patient #5 and #10), in that the RN (Registered Nurse) did not follow the orders for the administration of pain medications.
Findings Included:
Patient #5 underwent elective surgery on 3/27/17. Patient #5's PACU orders reflected the first medication to be administered for pain control as Morphine 2-4 mgs. Personnel #8 administered Fentanyl 25mgs for pain first.
Patient #10 underwent elective surgery on 3/27/17. Patient #10's PACU orders reflected the first medication to be administered for pain control as Dilaudid 1mg. Personnel #8 administered Fentanyl 50mg for pain first.
During an interview at 2:35 PM in the meeting room in the presence of Personnel #1, Personal #8 verified the findings. Personnel #8 stated she must have miss read the order.
