Based on observation and staff interview, the facility did not ensure that electrical wiring and equipment is installed and maintained in accordance with NFPA 70, National Electrical Code. This deficient practice does not ensure prevention of an electrical fire or electric shock hazard, affecting all residents, visitors and staff in 1 of 6 smoke zones. The Hospital has 13 certified/licensed beds and at the time of survey the census was 1. The LTCU has 44 license/certified beds and at the time of the survey the census was 41.

Findings include:

During the tour conducted on 02/05/19, it is observed:

-- 1. At 3:35 p.m., in the facility's emergency room, outlet within 6' of the hand sink is not protected with a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI).

-- 2. At 3:37 p.m. in the facility's drug screen restroom, outlet within 6' of the hand sink is not protected with a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI).

Staff M-1 and Staff N-1 were present and acknowledged the findings at the time of discovery.

NFPA Standard: Electrical wiring and equipment shall be in accordance with NFPA 70, National Electrical Code, unless existing installations, which shall be permitted to be continued in service, subject to approval by the authority having jurisdiction. 2012 NFPA 101, 9.1.2
