Based on a unit observation in the Red Brick building #2 and staff interviews, it was determined that the hospital failed to maintain facilities in a manner that promoted patient safety and well-being, as evidenced by a chipped, jagged floor observed in the patient care area of Red Brick building #2.
The findings include:
On day 1 of the onsite survey, the unit observation of Red Brick building #2 revealed that Room 205 had a chipped, jagged floor below the window. The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and Registered Nurse Supervisor (RNS) present during the observation informed the surveyors that this room was utilized when needed by patients as a Quiet Room.
