Based on observation the facility failed to provide a properly populated Life Safety Branch at Electrical Room.
4.4.2.2.2.2 "Life Safety Branch. The life safety branch of the emergency system shall supply power for the following lighting, receptacles, and equipment:
(1) Illumination of means of egress as required in NFPA 101, Life Safety Code,
(2) Exit signs and exit direction signs as required in NFPA 101, Life Safety Code,
(3) Alarm and alerting systems including the following:
(a) Fire alarm
(b) Alarms required for systems used for the piping of nonflammable medical gases as specified in Chapter 5, Gas and Vacuum Systems
(4) Hospital communication systems where used for issuing instructions during emergency conditions,
(5) Generator Set Location: Task illumination, battery charger for emergency battery-powered lighting unit(s), and selected receptacles at the generator set location and essential electrical system transfer switch locations
(6) Elevator cab lighting, control, communication, and signal systems,
(7) Automatic doors used for building egress
(8) Auxiliary functions of the fire alarm combination systems complying with NFPA 72.
No other functions than those listed in items (1) through (8) shall be connected to the life safety branch." - NFPA 99, 2002, 4.4.2.2.2.2.
Based on observation the facility failed to provide a properly updated directory for the branches of the essential system.
"Panel directories shall be labeled to legibly identify the purpose or use of each circuit." - NFPA 70, 2002: 408.4.
Based on observation the facility failed to provide a proper distance between generator and electrical transformer.
"When the emergency generator(s) and electrical transformer(s) are located within the same area, they shall be located at least 10 feet apart." - H.L.R. 133.162(d)(5)(M)(iii).
