Based on observation and interview the facility failed to ensure all portable medical gas cylinders were individually secured. This deficient practice affects the operations of the facility. The facility census was 180.
Findings included:
1. Observation during a tour of the facility conducted on the morning of 12/03/14 at 10:25 AM, showed over 40 "H" size portable medical gas cylinders, both empty and full, located in the medical gas room. None of the portable medical gas cylinders were individually secured.
2. Staff XXX, Support Services, confirmed at that time the portable medical gas cylinders were not individually secured.
Chapter 4.3.1.1.1 of the 1999 Edition of the Life Safety Code published by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA 99) states that cylinders in service and in storage shall be individually secured and located to prevent falling or being knocked over.
