Based on interview and policy review, the hospital failed to have a written policy and procedure regarding the visitation rights for all patients.
The hospital's failure to ensure a policy regarding visitation rights for all patients has the potential for restricting patient access to visitors based on reasonable clinical needs and not consistent with the wishes of the patient.
Findings include:
Document review of the Patient's Rights policies showed the facility had no policy for visitation rights.
During an interview on 08/15/18 at 11:24 AM, Staff B, Quality/Risk Director stated that the hospital does not have a policy and procedure in regards to visitation rights for patients. The visitation rights are only addressed in the patient admission book at this time.
