Based on a review of the Diet List for 03/25/14, and staff interview, the facility failed to meet the nutritional needs of four (4) of six (6) patients reviewed in accordance with recognized dietary practices and in accordance with orders of the practitioner responsible for the care of the patients. Patients #2, #3, #4 and #6 were effected.
Findings include:
A copy of the hospital's current Diet List for 03/25/14 was obtained and reviewed with the assistance of the interim Dietary Manager. Diet Orders on the Diet List were compared to the dietary orders on six (6) patient's charts. For Patients #2, #3, #4 and #6, the Diet List and the Physician's Orders stated that the patients were on Diabetic Diets. The amount of calories were not specified on either the Diet List or the Physician Orders. When the Dietary Manager was asked how much food the dietary staff knew to serve the patients since the Diet Orders did not state the amount of calories, she stated that they did not know.
