A. Based on a review of the EMTALA log and staff interview, it was determined that the Hospital failed to ensure the ED log/ OB log indicated the disposition of all individuals that presented to the Emergency Department for an obstetrics screening
Findings include:
1. The Hospital's ED log was reviewed on 5/6/10 at 2:45 PM. It identified those patients sent to labor and delivery for an obstetrical screening. In the obstetrics log, there was no documentation that indicated the disposition of the patient (patient refused treatment, was refused treatment, was transferred, admitted and treated, stabilized and transferred or discharged).
2. During an interview with the Chief Nursing Officer, conducted on 5/6/10 at 3:00 PM, the above findings were confirmed.
