Bringing transparency to federal inspections
Tag No.: K0062
Based on observations and interviews with facility staff, the facility failed to maintain sprinkler coverage and implementation of interim life safety measures during construction. Failure to maintain full sprinkler coverage could result in the passage of fire, smoke and fire gasses into the above ceiling spaces and the resulting spread of fire throughout the smoke compartment.
Findings:
On February 27, 2012 at 1:15 PM while on tour of the facility with facility staff, at the Information Technology (IT) Room an incomplete installed drop ceiling was observed with 1 pendant type sprinkler heads for protection of the space located beneath the only remaining ceiling tile. There were no heads located above the dropped ceiling grid. Failure to complete the dropped ceiling will allow for heated fire gases to bypass the heads delaying the activation of the sprinkler head to control a fire endangering the patients, staff, and building occupants.
