Based on tour/observation and staff interviews the hospital failed to post the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) notices.
Findings include:
On 01/04/10 at 7:35 a.m. in the entrance to the Emergency Department (ED), Surveyor #22198 did not see EMTALA signs.
Surveyor #22198 then entered the patient waiting area, where patients and families wait after being triaged and prior to going back into a ED room.
On 01/04/10 at 1:35 p.m. on tour and observation of the ED, Surveyor #22198 along with Staff Director of Quality A, ED Manager B and Medical Doctor (MD) in the ED and ED Chairperson C acknowledged EMTALA signs were not at the ED entrance or in the patient waiting area.
