Based on observations and staff interviews, the facility failed to provide 2-hour rated construction at building separation walls between the hospital building and the non-conforming building construction as required by NFPA 101" Life Safety Code " 2000 edition, sections 18.1.1.4.1. The deficient practice could negatively impact 11 patients of the facility by allowing a fire to spread from one building to another.
Findings include:
On facility tour between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM on 9/08/2014, observation revealed on 1st floor, the 2 hour building separation wall from hospital to the emergency vehicle garage. The 90 minute fire rated doors did not positively latch when closed as required by 1999 NFPA 80 2-4.7.1.
This deficient practice was confirmed by the Maintenance Supervisor at the time of discovery.

Heliotropes shall be maintained in accordance with the 2007 MN State Fire Code. Section 1107.
Findings include:
On facility tour between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM on 9/08/2014, it was observed that the helistop, which is located at ground level, away from the building, did not have an 80-BC fire extinguisher located in the helistop area as required by the 2007 MN State Fire Code, Section 1107.7.
