K64 Fire Extinguishers
Based on visual observation the facility failed to assure that the fire extinguishers were visible from
End of corridor in accordance with the Life Safety Code and NFPA 10. Fire extinguishers are available to extinguish small fire or smoke emergencies. This deficient practice could potentially affect 30 of 30 residents.
Findings:
During the facility tour and the record review, between the hours of 10:30 AM and 4:30 PM on 12-15-15 it was observed that the fire extinguishers were not visible form the end of the corridors due to being recessed .Notification is needed to show location of extinguishers. The Facility has 3 corridors with 4 extinguishers on
each corridor that needs notification.
Interview with Maintenance Supervisor revealed the facility was not aware that the extinguishers were not visible from end of corridors, this was also acknowledged by the Administrator during the exit meeting.
