Based on document review and interview, it was determined that the facility failed to ensure the Nursing Staff provided standard care by not checking allergies for one (1) of five (5) Patients (Patient # 1).

The findings include:

Clinical Record reviews on August 24, 2022 between 9:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. revealed the following.

Patient # 1-
A review of the document provided by Staff Member # 3 titled "Allergy Review History" revealed Latex was added as an allergy for Patient # 1 with reaction of contact dermatitis on October 22, 2021.

A review of the Hospitalist Discharge Summary dated October 27, 2021 revealed "foley was placed on 10/25, but replaced with latex containing foley catheter. see rash below. Rash due to latex allergy. Foley catheter was replaced with a latex containing catheter on 10/25, discontinued on 10/27. Replaced with non-latex containing foley catheter on 10/27 prior to discharge."

An interview with Staff Member # 3 on August 25, 2022 revealed "The allergy was documented before the catheter was placed on October 25."
