Based on observation, interviews, and tour of the kitchen at Covenant Health, it was determined that the facility failed to ensure that food and dietetic services was organized.

Findings included:

The hospital failed to ensure that food and dietetic services organization requirements were met. Tour of the kitchen was conducted the morning of 01/14/2020
.
Tour of the kitchen revealed the following:
" Clean supplies - aprons and cleaning rugs were kept on the counter next to a dirty sink.
" Dry goods storage room revealed dirty shelves throughout. Dirt and food particles were felt under the non-skid plastic netting on several shelves.
" Wood Boards with wheels underneath dry goods shelf were dirty and paint had flaked off. Floor under shelves were dirty.
" Three empty milk deliver carts were being stored the clean dry goods room were dirty with dried milk particles in various areas.
" Two kitchen workers were observed with their hair not properly contained under their hair net, potential for contamination of food being prepared.
" Floor under cooking equipment display black dirt indicating inadequate cleaning.

The above finding was confirmed by the Food Services Manager and the facility Director of Operations/Patient Safety Officer.
