Based on observation and staff interview it was determined the hospital failed to secure medical devices in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This failure has the potential to place all patients in the ICU at risk for care in an unsafe setting.
1. A tour of the ICU conducted on 11/13/18 at 1:20 p.m. with the Regulatory Compliance Coordinator (RCC) revealed needles and syringes unsecured in a room with an open door and unlocked drawer in the Arterial Blood Gas room.
2. In an interview with the RCC during the tour she concurred with the above finding and stated the expectation is sharps and syringes will be secured at all times.
3. During the tour the RCC concurred with the above findings.
