Based on observations made during the survey of the facility between the hours of 3:30 pm and 6:00 pm, while accompanied by the hospital's Chief Financial Officer it was observed that while the facility did have the required "Gen-Set" devices these devices were located a substantial distance away from the current Generator location. The current distance (approximately 50 feet) greatly diminishes the effectiveness of the light meant to serve any emergency service personnel who working in the immediate Generator location. Additionally, use of the electrical receptacle is compromised because it is not located in the immediate area of the Generator location.
The 90-minute battery back-up lighting, and receptacle must be connected and powered from the LIFE SAFETY BRANCH in accordance with NFPA99, 2012: 6.4.2.2.3(4).
NFPA 99, 2002: 4.4.2.2.2.2.(5). "Task illumination, battery charger for emergency battery-powered lighting unit(s), and selected receptacles at the generator set location and essential electrical system transfer switch locations."
