Findings include:
Observation on 07/29/25 at 10:00 AM and on 07/30/25 at 09:30 AM in the Verticare area revealed 28 out of 28 patient treatment rooms had a sharps container located on the floor and open, not secured to prevent tipping, spillage, and theft.
Interview on 07/30/25 at 09:30 AM, Staff (E), Hospital Administration, revealed sharps containers are not required to be secured to the floor in the Verticare area. The sharps containers that are on the floor do not having openings that an adult would be able to fit a hand into. Typically, children are not roomed in the Verticare area, but if they were to be it would be the responsibility of the adult supervising the child to ensure that they do not get into the sharp's container.
Interview on 07/30/25 at 10:00 AM, Staff (C), Hospital Administration, revealed the hospital does not have a policy related to securing sharps containers.
