Based on review of hospital documents and interviews with staff, the hospital failed to provide a written response with the required elements. This occurred in three (Records #10, 11, and 12) complaint records reviewed that were submitted in May of 2014.
Findings:
The written responses sent to the complainants did not contain the steps taken to investigate the complaint; the result of the grievances process; and the date of resolution.
These findings were reviewed with administrative staff during the exit conference on 07/28/2014. Staff B told the surveyor that the letters contained in the files were the only responses sent to the complainant.
