Based on record reviews and interviews, the hospital failed to have a process for the qualification, competencies, or job description for the sitters that Physicians order for medical patients requiring sitter services.
Findings include:
Review of policies, the hospital failed to have a policy that outlined the services, qualification and competencies for a sitter to sit with a medical patient.
Review of medical records for patient #3, 1 of 1 medical record that had a sitter did not have documentation that a sitter was present for dates 5/14/2019 through 5/24/2019.
An interview was held on 6/24/2019 at 2:40 PM with Employee #8. Employee #8 confirmed that there was no policy for providing sitters for medical patients. Employee #8 also confirmed that there is no job description for a sitter that outlined the services, qualification and competencies required to be a sitter for a medical patient. Employee #8 could not provide evidence of documentation of the sitter services in the medical record.
