Bringing transparency to federal inspections

Based on observation and interview, the provider failed to maintain one randomly observed hazardous area (patient room 112) as required. Findings include:
1. Observation on 3/28/23 at 2:05 p.m. revealed patient room 112 was over 100 square feet and had large amounts of combustibles stored in it (six beds and two recliner chairs) creating a hazardous area. The door to that room was not equipped with a closer. Doors on hazardous areas are required to be equipped with self-closing devices.
Interview with the maintenance director at the time of the observation confirmed those findings.
The deficiency affected two of numerous requirements for hazardous storage rooms and had the potential to affect 100% of the occupants of the smoke compartment.
