Bringing transparency to federal inspections
Tag No.: A0123
Based on review of grievances and interviews with hospital staff, the hospital failed to provide the complainant with the steps taken to investigate the grievance and the results of the grievance process. This occurred in one of four grievances (Grievance #6 of Grievances #6, 9, 12 and 16) filed where the patient was admitted to the acute care hospital.
Findings:
1. The hospital's grievance policy complied with Medicare regulations and stipulated that the written response provided to the complainant would contain the required information.
2. Grievance #6, filed on 10/04/2010 listed complaints/problems identified by the complainant. The written response sent by the hospital did not address all of the listed complaints or demonstrate that the complainant's listed problems had been investigated with a resolution identified.
