PATIENT RIGHTS: ADMISSION STATUS NOTIFICATION

Based on a review of medical records (MR) and interview with staff (EMP) it was determined the facility failed to ensure patients right to have a family member and primary care provider notified of admission to the hospital for 10 of 10 medical records reviewed (MR1, MR2, MR3, MR4, MR5, MR6, MR7, MR8, MR9 and MR10).

Findings include.

A review on October 29, 2014, of MR1, MR2, MR3, MR4, MR5, MR6, MR7, MR8, MR9 and MR10 revealed the patients were admitted to the hospital. There was no documentation in the records that indicated that the patients were asked if they wanted a family representative or primary care provider notified of admission to the hospital.

An interview on October 29, 2014, at 10:13 AM with EMP1 confirmed that patients were not asked if they want their family representative or primary care physician notified of admission and there was no documentation in the records. Further interview with EMP1 confirmed there was no policy regarding family or primary care provider notification of admission.
