Based on observation and interview the facility failed to ensure egress access to corridors were continuously maintained free of all obstructions to full use in case of emergency as required in NFPA 101, 2012 Edition, Chapter 7.1.10.1 and 19.2.1.
Findings:
On 01/24/23 at 9:45 a.m., during the tour of the facility the surveyor observed three Respiratory Therapy Machines and two office chairs that were being stored in the emergency egress corridor pathway exit on the patient care east wing.
On 01/24/23 at 12:40 p.m., the facility manager was asked why the Respiratory Therapy Machines and the office chairs were being stored in the emergency egress pathway. She stated they have made prior attempts to remove the equipment, but its right next to the nurses station. She stated they will find another area for storage the equipment.

Based on observation and interview, the facility failed to maintain smoke barrier walls to resist the passage of smoke. Findings:
1. A tour of the facility was conducted on 01/24/2023., and the following observation was made:
Patient Rooms/Surgery Waiting
One unsealed penetrations were observed on the west side of the smoke wall for the patient rooms/surgery waiting wing.
2. The maintenance supervisor was present during the tour of the facility and he acknowledged the unsealed penetrations in the smoke wall. He stated he would make the repairs as soon as possible.
