Based on medical record review, and interview, in one (1) of 11 medical records reviewed, it was determined the medical staff failed to notify a patient of a positive serology result. (Patient #1).
Findings include:
Review of MR #1 revealed the following: Patient #1 presented to the facility on February 1, 2016 for hemodialysis. Blood tests were performed for Hepatitis C RNA or viral load, and antibodies. The viral load was "not detected" but the antibodies was "reactive." There was no documented evidence in the medical record that this finding was discussed or addressed with the patient.
This finding was confirmed with the Chief Medical Officer on June 24, 2016 at approximately 11:00 AM.
