QUALIFIED DIETITIAN

Based on observation and interview the hospital failed to employ a dietitian on full-time, part-time or on a consultant basis.
Findings:
Interview on 12/20/11 at 9:30 AM with the Human Resources Director stated that on 12/12/11 the dietitian was escorted off the premises by the police. She stated that he was acting inappropriately towards staff members.
Interview on 12/20/11 at 11 AM with the Dietary Manager stated that she previously worked at the facility and has had the training to perform this job. She stated that she started on 12/18/11. She stated that she provides meals based on the American Dietetic Association (ADA) standards. She reviews the current diets and ensures that the patients' dietary needs are met. She stated that she currently is working on menus and that specialty diets are provided using the ADA guidelines.
Review of the dietary policy and procedure manuals there were no specific guidelines listed for full liquid, clear liquid, 1800 calorie diabetic diet and low sodium diets.
THERAPEUTIC DIET MANUAL
