Tag No.: K0014
Based on observation, record review and staff interview, the facility failed to provide an interior finish of exposed interior walls with a flame spread rating of class A or B. The deficient practice would allow for flames to spread more rapidly across the surface of the exposed wall treatment, affecting one of two smoke zones. This facility has a capacity of 25 and a census of 9.
Findings Include:
During the survey on 7/17/12 between 10:00 AM and 2:30 PM, the following is observed:
There is an approximately 3 feet by 6 feet sheet of painted plywood covering an old radiator heating appliance opening in the corridor across from the Therapy Department.
Maintenance Staff A was present and acknowledged the finding.
NFPA Standard: Interior wall and ceiling finish materials complying with 10.2.3 shall be permitted as follows: Existing materials shall be Class A or Class B., except for rooms protected by an approved, supervised automatic sprinkler system, use of existing Class C interior finish may be continued within rooms separated from the exit access corridors in accordance with 19.3.6. 2000 NFPA 101, 19.3.3.2
