Based on document review and interview hospital failed to follow grievance procedures.
Document review of facility's complaints and grievances showed that nursing staff had failed to accept a current patient's request to file a grievance and, instead, told the patient that filing a grievance would not satisfy the patient's expectations.
After discharge, the same patient entered a grievance into the hospital's grievance process.
Document review of that grievance (above) showed that the facility's investigation process had found and documented that the facility had not followed its grievance policy/procedure. Interview with Chief Nursing Officer and Director of Risk Management concurred with the finding.
