Based on document review,the facility failed to conduct an external disaster drill. Disaster drills are essential to the training of staff and residents in proper procedure in emergency situations. Untrained staff can allow confusion and possible delays in proper procedure in an emergency and jeopardize all within the facility.

The findings Include:
During document review with maintenance staff, on 6/10/2015 at 12:00pm, it was noted that an external disaster drill had not been done. There was no documentation found for the external disaster drill. Facilities are required to conduct two disaster drill a year( one internal and one external ) spacing them apart from 4 to 7 months. 59A-4.106 & 4.106(5) (c) 2, Florida Administrative Code;

Based on observations , the facility failed to properly maintain the sprinkler system. Timely maintenance and inspection of the sprinkler system helps to ensure proper function of the system in time of emergency. Sprinkler malfunction could affect all persons within the facility.


The findings Include:

During the facility tour with Maintenance on 6/10/2015 at 1:45 pm, it was observed that in room 111, there were 2 sprinkler heads that were painted, and also noted during the tour was that several areas had sprinkler heads that were in need of cleaning, in the areas of the front lobby, emergency room, and Janitors closet in X-ray.
