Based on observation and interview, the facility failed to ensure patients' right to personal privacy in 2 of 5 "holding areas" in the Emergency Department (ED) Extension.
Finding:
The facility's policy titled "Patient Rights and Responsibilities", that contains an items stating "the patient has a right to security, personal privacy and confidentiality of information".
On 3/3/20 at 7:50 a.m., two of five holding areas (ED 27 and ED 28) were observed without separation walls which provides no privacy for patients occupying the beds.
On 3/3/20 at 9:40 a.m., the surveyor discussed the privacy concerns related to ED 27 and ED 28 with the Director of Emergency Services.
