Based on interview, the facility failed to assure sufficient equipment was available to accomodate the needs of one patient that required a special bed due to patient's height in 1 (C1) of 1 instance.

FINDINGS:

1. Personnel A1, Vice President of Patient Services, was interviewed on 3-28-12 at 12pm, and indicated the hospital has only one special "Total care bed" adjustable for height, and it was in use with another patient upon C1's admission.

2. Personnel A3, Medical/Surgical Director, was interviewed on 3-28-12 at 2:15pm and indicated the hospital has only one special "Total care bed" adjustable for height, and it was in use with another patient upon C1's admission. Personnel A3 also indicated the hospital has a resource to order another special bed, however, did not do so upon C1's admission because it was thought that it would take several days to receive the bed and the complainant would be discharged before the bed was received.
