The inspector observed, while accompanied by the Director of Plant Operations during the hours of the inspection from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm on 9/10/2019 that there were the following issues.
In the laboratory, there were stored items that were closer than 18 inches to the bottom of sprinkler heads.

"The clearance between the deflector and the top of storage shall be 18 inches or greater." - NFPA 13, 2010: 8.5.6.1.

Gas and Vacuum Piped Systems - Other

The inspector observed, while accompanied by the Director of Plant Operations during the hours of the inspection from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm on 9/10/2019 that there were the following issues.
Bulk Oxygen Yard: There were copper lines that went through a chain link fence and were in contact with the fence. And in the Vacuum pump room, there were copper med gas lines that needed to be isolated from electrical conduit. These copper lines need to be isolated from other metal contact to prevent dissimilar metal corrosion in the copper lines.

"Hangers and supports shall comply with and be installed in accordance with MSS SP-58, Pipe Hangers and Supports - Materials, Design, Manufacture, Selection, Application, and Installation." - NFPA 99, 2012, 5.1.10.11.4.2

"In potentially damp locations, copper tube hangers or supports that are in contact with the tube shall be plastic-coated or otherwise be electrically insulated from the tube by a material that will not absorb moisture." - NFPA 99, 2012, 5.1.10.11.4.4

The inspector observed, while accompanied by the Director of Plant Operations during the hours of the inspection from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm on 9/10/2019 that there were the following issues. The 4th floor electrical room had a ladder stored in it. Normal sized electrical rooms may not be used for storage per the following.

"Dedicated Equipment Space: All switchboards, panelboards, distribution boards, and motor control centers shall be located in dedicated spaces and protected from damage." - NFPA 70, 2012, 110.26(E)

In the 1st floor electrical room located near the surgery suite, there was an open junction box that needed a cover plate installed.

"Covers. All pull boxes, junction boxes, and conduit bodies shall be provided with covers compatible with the box or conduit body construction and suitable for the conditions of use. Where used, metal covers shall comply with the grounding requirements of 250.110." NFPA 70, 2011, 314.28 (C)
