Based on observations made during the tour of the facility and interview with the Maintenance Director, the facility failed to maintain the exit stair railing in reliable condition. This poses a risk to anyone using the exit stairs.
The findings included:
On 2/16/16 at 11:00 a.m., the exterior stair railing on the stairs which lead from the kitchen exit was observed to be broken. Further investigation revealed the railing is the pipe style and was rusted through at the base of the pipe where it meets the concrete. The railing was loose and wobbled when tested.
On 2/16/16 at 11:05 a.m., the Maintenance Director and the Chief Nursing Officer acknowledged the railing was in unreliable condition and said they would get it repaired or replaced.
