QUALIFICATIONS OF DIRECTOR OF PSYCH NURSING SERVICES

Based on record review and staff interview, the facility failed to have a Director of Nursing (DON) with a Master's Degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. The facility did not provide documented proof of ongoing training in psychiatric nursing or evidence of consultation from a nurse with a Master's degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
Findings include:
A. Document Review
A review of the DON's resume revealed that she did not have a Master's Degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing. The facility was not able to produce evidence of on-going training in psychiatric nursing and had no consultation agreement with a nurse with a Master's in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
B. Staff Interview
During an interview on 11/7/17 at 11:00 a.m., the CEO acknowledged that the newly hired Director of Nursing did not have documentation of on-going training in psychiatric nursing and was unable to produce a contract agreement that
consultation by a Master's prepared nurse in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing had been provided her.
